Richmond Averill, Industrial Regional Sales Engineer (South West England and South Wales) at Schaeffler (UK) Limited.

Richmond brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in linear motion systems to the role. After studying Electrical Engineering at Brighton University, he gained invaluable experience working for 10 years in the linear motion industry for various UK-based suppliers, including a role that involved designing and building bespoke special purpose linear machines.

As Richmond comments: “I’m excited to be taking on this key sales role within the UK. In addition to my sales responsibilities, I’ll also be supporting the linear team at Schaeffler UK. There are many growth opportunities in the UK for our linear products, particularly in high-tech industries, as well as in special purpose printing machines and mechanical handling systems. Schaeffler’s complete linear offering is one of the widest linear product ranges currently available from a single source. My aim is to help grow the linear side of the UK business by advising, guiding and supporting customers in designing and selecting the right linear motion systems for their application. Furthermore, Schaeffler’s high quality, German-engineered linear products are available to UK customers on short lead times at competitive prices.”

He continues: “I’m also looking forward to expanding my knowledge of rotary bearings, particularly with regards to recent developments such as the FAG Generation C range of deep groove ball bearings, which now offer even lower friction and reduced noise levels. Also, following Schaeffler’s plans to increase its services offering in the UK market, it’s a great time to be joining the company and an opportunity for me to improve my knowledge in areas such as bearing refurbishment and condition monitoring.”
